google it, as there are many DIY sites that do this, or you can search posts by Puzzleman who has DIYed heaps of stuff himself by making moulds and fiberglassing.

There are a couple of ways to do it. Depending on the shape, you could cover what you want in masking tabe then stick alfoil over the masking tape and make it nice and smooth. Then fibrglass over this. Once complete, the fibreglass will come off easy becuase of the alfoil and not ruin your origional piece, smooth it out with some bog to make it nice and smooth. You then repeat the process on your new mould to make the origional.

Instead of fibrglass, you can also use expandafoam to get the mould, then fibreglass over that to get your origional piece.

This of course is the poor mans way of doing things, if you have cash, just take is somewhere.

    I hope that makes sense??

I used plaster, because we have heaps laying around and I didn't want to fibre glass in my car (takes months to get rid of the smell if the mixture is wrong). It was strong enough to hold its shape (guage holders) then line the plaster with grease (some kind of release agent) and lay it up with glass... although its been ages since I've done it and used to much glass which ment hours of sanding and drilling to make the guages fit.

In your case its a big shape so you'd need a backing for the plaster... Or stick with the glass. If you've not fussed what happens to the origonal (as in paint wise) use a good release agent on it and then glass it up. Sand the fine edges back and your done.

just slip down to your local pool builder or marine shop and get a tin of mould release ,a couple of kilo,s of fine matting ,a tin of resin and some catalyst. then just give your scoop a good coat of the mould release, mix up a small quantity of resin then start glassing. just remember to brace the mould with a couple of sticks .just make sure you can get your scoop out of the mould or you may have to make a 2 piece mould. cheers bigwad

since you're in vic, go to:

    Saint-Gobain RF Pty Ltd

635 Queensberry St North Melbourne VIC 3051
    ph: (03) 9329 0111

You can buy in bulk from them fairly cheap. I've got enough resin and glass to make a front bar from scratch for a couple of hungey.

It's a snorkel similar to the SW20 tom's unit, but for the AW11. I was planning on plumbing it to a sealed airbox on my 3SGTE.

Does anyone know someone I can take it to to copy or make a mould of it in Melbourne??

    Justin.

i would suggest you got the local library and get some books, a good 1 is called how to build a tiger avon sports car, it shows you step by step how to make a mould.

i would then goto a fibreglass manufacterer (some 1 that buil;ds stuff from fibreglass), and buy your materials form them, you can often get a shopping bag of scrap matting for free or a fe $, ask them for 50mils of PVA (mould release agent), and 4kg of resin and hardner is around $40, a roller will set you back around $5 for small 1, and you should get a few mtrs of finishing matt (its bit cheaper than using gelcoat for a smooth finish), all up, it should cats you around $50-70 for all the materials,

a good link for making stuff from fibreglass is glassmanscustomforum, i cant remember the exact name, but if you google it you will find it, its mostly bout custom stereo stuff but it gives some great hints.

hope you have good luck wit it.
