I'd probably start with some L brackets mounted to the floor at either end then id also either tap some holes in the metal inner part that seperates the boot and the quarter panel or weld a nut to it. That should give you something to mount some timber too and then youll just need to decide what bolts to use and just get the holes lined up right.

Just remember if you cut anything metal you should probably coat it with some paint to stop it rusting.

Adhere Carpet last on top piece to hide finishing bolts. Obviously pre cut and attach on lead edge and tuck the top edge under boot lid

Where you can, use cardboard to make templates of the shapes you need, and use marine ply for the final product (not MDF/chipboard etc as all your hard work will go down the drain).
    Good luck.

Prob not the best idea if you wanna take it off without spending an eternity finding the screws/bolts.

If you drill a slightly deeper hole than needed ie 5mm in a 10mm bit of timber and then cut an X in the carpet where the hole is you will not only hide the bolt or screw or whatever but you will also be able to remove it all easier. Alternatively use allen key dome headed bolts cause they look cool and you wont have to worry bout hiding them.

if the shape of the boot is a pain just use fibre glass, my first MDF sub box took me a weekend to design and build right (finished off with 2 glass panels) and it took me the same to replace it with FG. The FG was stronger, lighter, sounded and looked better. Its esy when its in the boot too! Give it a thought if you have't started, there are heaps of DIY sites with advice on making the boxes.
