Default help with HJ60: 2H 4 litre diesel

this my mates car, just been rebuilt bottom end and head with all sealed up cambers and x-rayed and all that deal but still blows white smoke on WOT, idle and deceleration. was rebuilt and that cause of it hitting water and the snrokle not full air tight.

the smoke smells of really really rich diesel

    what could be the problem

I thought white smoke from a diesel meant it was running lean.
Was the injectors and pump serviced at the same time or not?
My sig has been pruned as it was over 5 lines long.

Most probably a damaged injector which is causing the diesel to come out in large drops instead of a nice spray pattern so it ignites properly. I hope they checked all the con rods for straightness because they usually bend when an engine has sucked in a heap of water. If a con rod is bent that cylinder will be way down on compression so that particular cylinder may not fire, which means unburnt diesel will be pumped out the exhaust making smoke.

the rods were fucked got new ones...lets just say the rods looked like 30+psi of boost was in them....lol like a banana!

the fuel control thingy (the motor that controled the lever on the fuel distribution block) was stuffed and got replaced too.

just rang him to double check and the injecotrs haven't been serviced yet...i and my mate through tho if it white smoke it not running rich...rich is usally black like petrol see thoes tractor pullers running heaps rich with all that boost and that and black smoke pouring out.

so yeah will get them checked asap and continue from there....cheers for the helps fellers!

White smoke is unburnt fuel. You will see it on machinery after start up when cylinders are cold.
