    Default waterpump airlock

    Hey guys

ive just done a quick coolant change and the results were worst than expected. The car no longer pumps water for some reason and im wanting to know how one goes about removing an airlock? The pump was working before i changed the coolant. Also took the thermostat out and it made no differance.

    Any help is appreciated

the pump whould be mounted low enough (near bottom of water galleries in block, so that if you fill the engine up with water, the pump can't have an airlock... since it is fully submerged...

grab a coke bottle, chop the bottom off, wrap some elec/duct tape around the threads and stick it upside down in your rad cap fill hole. Works effectively as being the highest part in the system. Try fluctuating the idle whilst it warms up to jiggle the air out.. if any.

hey guys, no luck so far, next stop is the radiator. As when it runs the coolant just keeps rising without going down unless you switch it off. Pretty sure it had debris in there befor and when i hosed it oput they got stuck.

sucks cos i got no money and 12 days till i can drive it again :@

    alright heres an update

The car now has either a bhg or cracked head. Water can be seen spitting out of the exhaust with no thermostat. I did a comp test a few days ago and all 4 cylinders were atleast 15psi of each other. Hmph

    thanks for the help guys

With having good compression, I SERIOUSLY DOUBT that you're seeing anything other then normal condensation, much like others have claimed that it's oil or gas.

What's the radiator like? Any clogged core tubes visible through the filler neck?? When the lower hose is popped off, does a solid steady stream, 30-40mm empty it in just a few seconds? Any more then 20% clogged requires attention, and you may be able to do it yourself with some compressed air & garden hose.

Like oldcorollas says, here is no such thing as "waterpump airlock', and even though some pump impellers have broken or corroded away, those odds are much more then 1 in a million.
