I highly doubt it. some things were simmiler but not that simmiler.

just wondering if anyone knows if the 1mz heads fit the 3vz block or if the rods from a 3vz will fit a 1mz crank.
cheers

I'm pretty sure they're completely different motors except for the capacity.
This is from talk of the MR2 guys in the states who do the conversions.
I've got a US spec EPC, I'll look it up tonight, but I'm guessing the part numbers will be different.![]()
Is this why Mos rang me this morning asking about the VVti 1MZ I saw at a wrecker?
afaik, they're totally different. the only thing in common between 3VZ and 1MZ is the intake manifold to upper intake chamber port shape... thus you can use the TRD S/C on either motor.

whats ppls opinions on MZvsVZ as far as weight, std head flow, strength is concerned.
it will have a gt3582r on it so power output would be roughly the same im just wondering is it worth using the vvtiMZ series over the VZ as far as cost is concerned.
mz series requires rods+pistons where the vz series only needs pistons to get the 600+hp i want.

As you've said, the VZ needs a lot less work to get some decent numbers out of. Iron is good for something.![]()
I think the VVti 1MZ & standard VVti have similar power output, just the midrange is probably different.
For the MZ, I've also heard that it may need liners over about 400rwhp to keep the block intact. There's a guy in the States running a TRD Supercharger & Naaas on the 1MZ installed in his SW20 with about 600rwhp, but its had liners installed after blowing the sides out of a few.
Here you go dude ebay to the rescue. Stop playing around with the little stuff, the 5VZ is only a litttle bit heavier than the 3VZ and is already setup for rear wheel drive. Throw a decent intake manifold and a set of cams and valve springs at it and you'll be making bulk torque from no revs to 7000-7500rpm.
mmm anyone know the weight of the vz series cause ive got a funny feeling it would be heavy as. not really ideal for what im doing.
the mz series are between 150-170kg but think the vz would add 50kg on that easy.
cheers

Best I can find for you. Either way it's apparently much lighter than a 3SGTE, but I assume that is with accessories and a CT26 is a fairly heavy accessory.Originally Posted by ToysRMe from the MR2oc
Contact Gianttomato. He had a VZ or 2 around as he was organising to make bellhousings to suit them to bolt into a RWD Corona.
Dunno bout the 5VZ. Problem is that because it's out of a 4wd, it automatically gets a price premium![]()
thanx josh
mos weighed the gen3 3s long i have and it was 130kgs (266lbs) so id say 170-180kg total.
i doubt the sixes would be lighter but as stated its probably with all accesories so may be true.
gives me a good starting point anyway.
the vz looks like a good thing but id like to find out about how strong the liners in the mz series are as the lighter this thing is the more i will enjoy it and the easier it will be to setup.
cheers

thanx steve ill see what hes got.
Gianttomato's conversion was xMZ to W50 bellhousing
edit: this is wrong - it's VZ - my bad.

justfound out the rods from the later gr sreies will fit the mz series (thanx josh) and are a bit beefier in the middle which would make them a good cheap upgrade but not sure on how much stronger they really are.
MZ's already have stuff like 6 bolts mains and are light (I can pick up and throw a block). I don't have any idea how they respond to boost etc though.
