Default Very silly 4AGE question (20V exh cam in 16V)?

    Hi,

Just had a weird thought, Googled it to no avail. If it worked I am sure I would have heard of it...does anyone know if a blacktop or silvertop exhaust cam fits in a 16V 4AGE ? Obviously no dizzy drive, but it might not matter to me or anyone with crankshaft driven position encoder for their ECU.

    Nick.

I can't say for sure..... but looking at the valve reliefs in a 20V piston, and a 16V piston... the center lines do not look the same.

I've got all the stuff out in the shed (Not sure where my 20v cams are), I'll have a look if I remember.

Works well, the base circle is bigger so you have to get the cam reground, you can get about 263 duration(from memory) Ivan tighe will regrind them.

we did this about 5 years(if memory serves me right) ago.

can only use the 20v exhaust for 16v inlet(if still using distributor)

gixer is correct. I have been running a ground 20v cam in my bigport for, shit yeah, about 5 years

Spec for cam are about 263deg with 8.3mm lift, cannot remember the Tighe grind number, just asked for the largest duration that can be ground on the cam up to 272. Cam was from Silvertop.

I now race the motor with the Tighe partnered with HKS 264 8.35 at modern regulaity level here in SA and have never had any issues. All shim clearances set to TRD bible spec.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. if using a crank sensor then it would be possible to get a couple of 263-264 ish cams with 8.35mm lift?? Is that what I'm hearing??????

I've been on a cam search for a while now and this is a "new" option........ Does anyone know the timing on the camshaft???

I ran the Tighe cam with factory 100kw cam wheels before I went to adj T3's. Unless you have aftermarket ECU you will need to find a partner for the ground cam to run a pair. After a while of waiting I managed to get a HKS and TODA pair of cams but don't use the TODA as it is 264 with 7.9mm of lift.
