Default Sealing / Adhesives for Side Skirts/Pods

I tried a couple of things already regarding sticking my Z20 side skirts to the car, but theyve failed. the Selleys Liquid Nails i used has lost its grip already, and so has the Bostik equivalent.

What do people recommend for bonding fibreglass / plastics to the side of the car? The Z20 soarer has clips up the side of the skirt, but they are all broken on mine so i have to bond it in with something tuff and seal it up.

    ...today.

    Ideas?

There is a product Selleys made called Stick It which would probably do what you're after.

Agreed, the 4321 might mislead him though when he goes looking and finds 221 and 223 etc

Check the catalogue, the 221 in the Sikaflex range is the one you're after.

    From the sikaflex site:

"In the mid eighties the first industrial adhesives and sealants were introduced with Sikaflex® -221 for sealing and bonding in the automotive industry, Sikaflex® -255 for bonding of windscreens and Sikaflex® -241 for the caulking of wooden boat decks."

    I'm with Ed... Sikaflex.
I actually have a tube of it at home, so I'll give you the product number when I get back (I don't trust ed.. he could be naked under those scrubs for all I know)

Draven, if you opened it a while ago it's probably dried up by now. Mine was all set after about 3 months after opening, I only got to use about 1/10th of it too.

the word sikaflex just needs more letters... 221 or 252 from memory will stick fairyfloss to cotton wool strong enough to stop a steam locomotive

I know, I was just taking the piss.....and you just know this thread would have been brought up in a years time with some dude asking "where do you get sikaflex 4321 from?"

I was cut when I went to use mine and found it had cured so quickly - even the screwdriver stabbed into it couldn't find a wet spot. Definitely cure faster than your average silicon bathroom type sealant.

Also if your any good at fibre glassing and not to worried about getting some stuff repainted you can counter sink some holes pop rivet the skirt to the car and fibre glass the holes up. Me and my mate actually moulded his kit to his wrx it turned out pretty damn good takes some time to get it looking nice though
