1G is easier, turbo 18RG is cooler

(3S will shit on them both at the track but much harder)

for what its worth id go the 1g (i mean I already did) you'll spend more money to make more power from the 18rgte than the 1g, in my appinion anyways. 1g is factory turbo less hassels you dont have to strenghten anything just wind the boost up and 1g's sound pretty freakin good! If you watch 6BOOST'S 9.7sec run or 160tu's vids you'll know what I mean

This man has a way with words

My opinion is the same as Justen's. On average, the 1G is the easier, quicker and cheaper option, but the 18RGT has the retro coolnes (think flathead V8 in an old rat rod).

If cost is no option, there are plenty of other options (3SGTE, 1UZ, etc).

1G is the obvious bang-for-buck winner, so unless money is no object that's your answer right there. I'm a big fan of the 18R-G but I'm not building mine because it's the best/cheapest/easiest option, it's just a sickness I have.

And do not over look the 1G-GZE.
I Have done both in 20 series celica's and found that even with less top end power the supercharger is a lot more fun to drive, with GO as so as you stand on it.

P.S. 1G-GZE's tend to be slightly cheeper too

I'm with FASTFOO, do the 1G-GZE for the low down grunt...its excellent. I'm not in QLD to answer that properly..."Unleaded Fuel Only" stickers on the fuel cap?

I don't think the unleaded thing is an issue any more, since leaded fuel has long since been made extinct. Both of my pre-86 cars were mod plated with no mention of an unleaded fuel filler.

    you'll need all the obvious:
-a safe EFI fuel system (e.g. no fuel pump zip-locked to a chassis rail or lots of exposed flexibel line under the car)
-CAT (just get a really large one from a wreck at the wreckers)
    - sensible zorst
    - maybe a brake upgrade (get advice from the engineer that you want to issue the mod plate)
-what looks like a factory ECU
