    Default 1jz turbo siezed

Hi all... im after some advice on what may have caused my front turbo to sieze, is this relatively normal for a ct12a? I haven't heard much talk of it, usually it seems to be the wheel falling off or the seals going.

I had the death whine for a while so I was expecting trouble, eventually lost boost suddenly, about to replace them with a set of eBay steelies. So i've gotten them off and the front turbo is completely siezed, the cold intake side had quite an amount of oil in it as well.

Just wondering what to check before popping the new turbo's on ? Whats siezing usually indicative of ... oil restriction, lack of cooling at my guess ?

The turbo's were boosted to 14psi and im running dumps so they were loaded up beyond stock. Soarer also has around 160k on the clock too, so im not shocked, just wasnt expecting to find the turbo siezed up, I just haven't really heard much talk of this ?

Possibly blocked oil lines or even not letting the car/turbos cool down after a hard run. Being water cooled they are less prone to coking up than oil cooled turbos though.
Perhaps even pull the cam covers or sump off for a look, that should give you a rough idea as to the stage of the rest of the engine and how clogged it might be.

Before fitting the new turbo, crank the car over (unplug igniter first) and see if there is anything stopping oil coming out of the oil feed for that turbo.

its not a common thing to happen, so yeah, there'd be something specific to your car/your treatment of them.
