Sounds good ya getting back into the AW11. Seriously if ya gonna spend the time mucking around with the sc14 and building up the rest of the motor you might as well go turbo. Trust me man you will be happy with the result.
Morning Gents,
Its been many moons since ive been on these forums, ive still read them from time to time, just havnt been here since the old forums. Ive been into 4wd's for the while and the AW11 has collected dust in my garry. But, its time to resurect the grin on my chevy chase
I still have my AW11 GZE, at the moment its in a million pieces and im sources all my parts for a rebuild and chasing a few more ponies. I know turbo is the easiest way to get power but im not looking at spending zillions of $$$'s and i just like it with a blower as everyone has a turbz these days.
Anyways, Im hoping some ppl here can answer a few questions for me.
Im thinking the following. Please blow me out of the water if all this sounds wrong or disproven in any way watsoever.
Series 1 GZE
*New stock pistons and rings etc.
*Head reco'd with new stiffer valve springs, Cleaned up ports etc. (series 1 head)
*HKS 264 cams
*SC14 Blower
*a decent exhaust manifold
*Bigport AW11 4AGE intake manifold??!?
Ok, now, I want to run factory ECU if possible.
My burning questions are regarding CAMS. Should i just use the 4AGE cams? How much is the bottom end power gonna suck?!
Has anyone used the 4AGE inlet manifold? - after stripping the motor down i almost cried when i looked at the design of the GZE inlet manifold. Its just well.. hmmm.. what a NUGGET!... If you cant use these can someone please explain to me why?
Anyways... As i said please drop a line in the forum here as to whats the go and whats got to go?
And yes ive searched the forums looking for info on all of this.
Thanks Champs,
LC!

The standard throttle body and airflow meter are way too small for making any decent power with the sc12 on stock boost, so with your planed mods, I'd deffinately be looking for upgrades.

Hi,
This is my SC14'd 4AGZE (in my AW11) with a water to air unit from a Subaru. And importantly (to you) I used the bigport n/a inlet manifold. I have since decided while its ok, I'm going to use the smallport head and manifold next time. If you dont use the TVIS plate (i didnt) you get some minor air leaks although they can be fixed/modded, but more importantly the two holes per port end up being about the same as the cross section of the small-port runner manifold anyway, except with small-port the surface area to cross sectional area is lower (which is better I think). Small-port gear is proven for 500hp anyway, and might give better low rpm operation I am thinking. For cams :: Stock cams kick ass for low end torque with lots of boost, but top end will be a bit flat. Like a few people on toymods I use a mishmash of cams. A 256deg inlet and a 267 deg exh cam. Best attainable cams for SC without sacrificing too badly is probably about 264, but you will notice a hole at the bottom end. WHen I used Wades 267 in and exh I was a bit disappointed with the low end, but the car was a bit faster that it is now in the mid to high end. Good thinking on the stiffer valve springs, I bought some a while ago, as I have no idea what the stock springs will support boost-wise.
