The A/C needs to be regassed at a air conditioning shop.
Good luck.
Hey guys,
Well If most of you didn't know I'm in California and I have one of 4 Z20 and one of 2 with a 1GGTE that is in this state. And Well It's been getting alot hotter here and i want to recharge my A/C thats in my car. My only question is what type of coolant dose the GZ20 w/ a 3rd gen 1GGTE use? I tried a search but after about an hour with no luck I thought that I would just ask you guys. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks![]()

Thanks but i was more referring to what type of freon like the old r12 or can it use the newer r134.
most shops around here won't even look at the car because it was never produced here. they just shake their heads and tell me that they have to charge me just to find out. i know enough about the system to do it myself but just not sure what type of refrigerant to use.
I understand that you can use r134 but I want to use the original type of freon so I just want to know if the GZ20 came with r12 or r134
Thanks again guys

There is a chance it might have R12 in it originally, people aren't legally allowed to use R12 here so we get no choice. Not a lot of work to do from memory.

I'd just put R12 in there.
The car was definitely R12 when it left the factory, so unless its been converted, which I doubt.
To convert to R134A most people just change the dryer to an R134A compatible one.
More work is required to do it 100%, but no one bothers.
