Call up a Toyota Service/Parts department. They'll most likely sell it in little packets enough to do 1 Steering rack.
Unless you want to use some non-Genuine Grease ?

Hey Guys,
I am about to reco the steering rack in my AW11 SC but I don't know what type of grease to use. Does anyone know what type Toyota used from the factory in their non-powered late 80's racks?
I'm thinking Moly but am unsure.
Any thoughts?
Matt.

Probably moly, I'm pretty sure it would use the same type of grease that is used to pack CV joints with

Non-Genuine grease will probably be the preferred stuff. It'll be worth twice as much from Toyota Genuine and its not under severe heat or pressure so I'm thinking a 3rd party grease will be fine - just which one?
Dale, I'm also thinking Moly but not sure, I cant see why not though. Moly grease is OK in contact with rubber (Rack Boots) and it lubricates. That fits all the requirements I think.
Maybe it doesn't really matter in an application like a non-powered rack. No heat & no pressure.
Matt
Anyone else?
From the Castrol Australia Website
You can use EPL1 or EPL2 but they are a little thinner.....Steering Boxes
Follow manufacturer recommendations. If the steering box is grease lubricated
use Castrol EPL0 or SL Heavy Grease.
The Tubes they come in cost about $8-$10 but you get a lot of Grease for your moneys worth.

Toyota manual states
Molybdenum Disulphide Lithium Base grease
I got some from my local BP servo.
Cam mountain I feel different from the ordinary
Moly it is then.
Thanks Parrot, I have a Haynes workshop manual which conveniently doesn't state but the Toyota manual could be considered gospel.
Thanks All,
Matt.
