    Default NA supra strut brace

Hey guys, I was just wondering. I have a mkiv NA and i got a strut brace for it. It just clears the Y section by 1mm but when reving it hits it.

Is it safe for me to put washers on the bolts to add clearance, and if so how high can i put it without being unsafe?

    Thanks guys

IMO you'd be better off buying a strut brace designed specifically for the NA Supra. I think there are only one or two that work correctly, but if you check out SupraForums there has been a fair bit of discussion on the subject.

    He is from Supraforums Norbie

He was asking me about how safe it is to raise a strut brace with bolts.

I said could impede the bonet closing, and wasn't sure what effect it would have on the rigidity of the brace or strut towers.

Don't really know what I'm talking about so referred him here, where people smarter than me type stuff....

I know using spacers is a little ghetto spec, but is it, unsafe in anyway if the right amount of washers makes it fit OK and there is still thread showing at the top of the nut.

Just for the record, I have a carbing strut brace, which is specific to the N/A

Well I suppose a few washers wouldn't hurt much, but the higher you space it the more of a bending moment you'll put on the studs... I'm no engineer but I don't think that would be good?

I don't think the bolt sizes can be changed as there on the bilsteins.

and the inevitable question... if it doesnt really fit, are you so convinced its necessary for a mkiv that youll go and buy one that actually fits?
