The engine has just been rebuilt, so it shouldnt be a blow by problem due to damaged rings, although i havent done a comp test yet. So i'll do that tonight and see how it goes.

I cant see how venting to atmosphere is any different to venting it back into the inlet, can you?

As far as i understand it, its just there to burn off any gases that are released from the crankcase so it goes back through the cat and not let out into the atmosphere. And the pressure before the throttle should be close to zero.

so everything seems to be ok there.

I was thinking of getting another intake side rocker cover and using it on the exaust side, this would essentially double the amount of ventalation, i was going to then get a larger catch can, about 2 litres and vent it to atmosphere.

As for the dipstick, i was thinking putting a spring bolted onto the block which went over the top of the dipstick loop to stop it popping out again.

Hmm i was having this problem on my 4agte.

It had done a fair few kms and then it was boosted.

I had the catch can venting to the airbox, then to atmosphere.

The dipstick started to get blown out along with a fair bit of blow-by. Checked compression and piston 3 was down about 20psi.

My setup was, inlet manifold(standard position for the 4age) was blocked.

Then it went: Rocker Cover -> catch can -> then hosed into airbox/under pod filter with hose size internally about the same size as the outlet on the rocker cover. So it seems exactly like yours.

But with your compression being fine i wonder if the other breather is blocked on the back of the head? But this still shouldnt make a difference.
