what spring hats do you have? which tops (4 types) need more info and a pic and i can tell you what needs to be modified.
Hey!, I'm trying to fit some noltec strut tops, but they foul badly on the upper spring seat, they look like the center plate should be up the other way even after that they seem to need a spacer of about 5mm to stop them fouling. Anyone fitted these?

Factory spring hats + Noltec part number N44025
It just seems like its missing something
I can get some photos tomorrow, all I think it needs is a spacer of *lenght and it will work. But if there is a better/propper way of doing it let me know!
if they gave you the nus to go with , do they slide down the inside of the bearing.
if so have somone machine up a spacer that slips over the shock and inside the bearing, as it comes out of the bearing have a 2mm step for the bearing to sit on then taper down 45deg till your about 8-10mm from the step go parra with bearing and lip back in.
damb it i cant use a computer and i will just confuse you.
send PM of a fax number and ill draw it up tommorow and send to you.
that style has the bearing high so you can run your car lower and retain shock travel, it may look upside down but its not.
Yeah the nuts go inside the bearing. Is it feasable to turn the centre plate upside down like I have tried? Yeah maybe not actually, there is a circlip holding it 2gether and without looking again (they are in the shed and its freezing outside) It would probably transfer all shock loading to the circlip. So why arnt the bloody things bolt on? looking at the docs on their site there is different collets available, that look like they would better suit, but they came with the ones specified for that part number struttop.![]()
hey there
got these fitted to a ta22 just recently and they gave us the biggest headache ever!ended up making far few too many trips to noltec to get this sorted!
firstly they gave us the wrong strut tops that didn't fit at all!!!! they share the same part number for later celica's and the ta22!![]()
then we faced the same problem your having now!!!!!we had them machine a spacer so thay can fit as has been suggested already by The Real Roadrunner!!!

And dont even get started with the Noltec bushes!!!!! Thats a story for another day!!!! good luck if you are yet to fit them aswell!!!![]()

i guess that after market parts though coz the other Whiteline parts needed some modding to fit!!!! it's all sorted now though and it's absoloutly awesome!!
Yep, I rekon I need their fig. 11 collet, not the one that came with it. It looks like what you are describing Road Runner
TA2274: Dude I have a full set of Noltec bushes to go in too! Damn! what sorta problems did you have with them. What was the worse part?
first they gave us the wrong bushes for the rear control arms and then when they gave us the wright bushes they had the wrong sleeves for the rear control arm bushes in the packet!!!
plus the strut tops were a huge headache!!!
like i said before we just had to make way too many trips out to thornleigh from rooty hill to get all this sorted!!!!!!![]()
Well they all match the part numbers on their website so I hope they are right, I was hoping to get the strut tops on while I had the struts out to do the dampers, looks like that aint gonna happen now! But the bushes are good shit yeah? Comparable to Nolathane?
my friends have used nolathane on old cars like rotars and the like and new car like rexies and they have all experienced issues with fitment!!!!
once they all went in, the car was a tottally different package!!! i think once noltec sort out all the packaging and part number issues they wiil be on the money!!! they peoduce a top product! we had the strut tops and all the bushes for suspension and steering replaced with Noltec!
sway bars for front and rear and an adjustable panard rod from Whiteline ( which didn't go straight in either i might add!) new munroe gas shocks to keep it from shacking you to bits and lowered springs all round and she drives and handles like a dream!![]()
i use super-pro bushes and never have i had a prob. the collets generally always need to be made, stock ones are normaly suited to there 60mm spring hats.
call noltec and speak to abe he chould be able to sort out your prob, if he cant let me know and ill send you a drawing that any machinist will be able to make the part up.

I had issues fitting the strut tops to my celica also.
Anyway, after working through for a few weeks they came back with another part number. I checked on their website and found that it was the same for the TA22's and the RA28's at which point I told them they are not compatible and decided against using the Noltec strut tops. (Just a point to note, in the installation instructions for the strut tops, it explicityly states noltec strut tops are made to suit factory components!)
Although I did use their bushes in my Cressida and they fitted with no trouble at all..
