Default HSK GT2835 Pro S Turbo

Has anybody heard of the HKS GT2835 Pro S turbos? From RHDs website they say is a HKS trimmed Garrett GT2835? 2.5k for one though.

All of the HKS Turbo are based on a Garrett core and HKS use either Garrett or there own housings with HKS spec wheels.

Usually HKS stuff is supposed to be pretty good, but you pay big $$$$ for it.

You can probably find something pretty similar for a lot less dollars in the Garrett catalog.

I didn't realise that they were all Garrett based cheers Is there any performance gain from them over a standard Garrett?

I don't think its so much of a performance gain over Garretts, but they are trimmed differently. So an HKS may suit a particular application better than an off the shelf Garrett.

I think HKS spec many of their Turbos around particular Japanese applications, so you might find one that was designed to be a bolt up replacement for a Nissan Silvia and give a performance gain over the standard turbo. But it may also work well on other similar engines.

there is a bit of a differance like just a normal to4z is 700 -800hp but a hks one is 1000hp.
    all there tolerances are closer.
if you wonted to be one up than someone else a hks turbo would be the differance.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.

looks very similar to Garrett GT3071R to me. I would save $1000 or so and get one of them

I think it is Guilty that uses one of them on a 1g for 200odd rwkw. If you wanted more, next step up would be GT3076R with .6 turbine a/r.

the hks stuff generally works better than garrett's equivalent at higher boost pressures and the fact that if you buy a kit off them you get everything you need means you can almost throw it at the car and it fits straight up, makes life easy .
they use there own turbine housings and generally have better transient response than garret stuff for the same hp required, this is mainly due to different turbine trims and the use of inconel wheels.
wether you can justify the price is up to you.

are the internal wastegates for those t28 turbos good enough to handle stable boost?

the hks housings have larger gates and seem to hold fine but some ppl use the free float rears and run externals instead
i supose it comes down to preference.

the hks to4z is rated at the same power but there rated power is 15% less than what they are capable of.
as far as tolerances are concerned side by side they are pretty much the same as the chra and bearings used are garrett parts. just wheel trims and housings are different.
