Mate the conversion has been done have a search on boostcruising. The getrag won't just "bolt up" as far as I know so you will need an adaptor plate for your bellhousing or just get a front cut that has an R154 already attached and ready to go. Probably not the easiest coversion to start off with if you're doing it yourself.

Well well well, something good does come out of that site ...

I cant help, but good luck with the conversion ive seen a few sr20 and 13b conversions on these cars, a 1j would be quiet unique in many aspects.

The Getrag that bolts to the 1JZ is the V160. It has a custom bellhousing made to suit the 1JZ/2JZ blocks and is not removable from the gearbox.

Be carefull when it comes to the control modules etc? alot speak to the DME (Digital Motor Electronics) for example ABS Control Module and ATC (Traction Control) Control Module, it may/will store faults if it doesnt see a DME, im not sure how people tippy toe around those things. Just a heads up
O i work at BMW, im not some "know it all" looser lol.

E34 will probably require a custom inlet manifold, modified sump (depending on where you sit the engine), custom mounts (both gearbox and engine), custom tailshaft, adaption to BMW radiator, etc, custom dump pipe, you will most likely loose a lot of the OBC controls, unless you have the OBC where you can calibrate it to suit.

wow, didnt expect this many replies, anyway.
My e34 does not have abs or traction control, so things should be all good there.
i will only need custom engine mounts if i use my getrag box but yes i will need dump pipe radiator, im also pretty sure the sump will not need modifying.
    But why custom inlet manifold.
And why is the bell housing not removeable from the v160.

Pretty sure it's all cast as one piece.

Stan - It is cast with the front portion of the gearbox. To change it is a major exercise in welding - in fact almost impossible. But your box is a 5 speed version of the Getrag so may be different.

ha ha yeah i pretty much got the electrics sorted, I THINK....
As for the bowx if mine does not mate up i guess i will just get a custom bellhousing.
It should fit with no dramas as i have just browsed and seen a 7 series with one a 5 series with one and even a three series too, hopefully all will be good....
Does any one have some 1jz soarer ecu wiring diagrams they can share with me...
