You can't neg (or plus) rep yourself... The system wont allow it...
Go ahead and try it now, it'll just tell you if you've received any rep for that post and how much rep you have...
Somebody must have neg repped you about the same time that you hit the button...

nope because ive only ever recieved one neg rep ever. and that was after i had like 100 points.
it didnt give a choice for pos or neg rep it just took away my points. try it and tell me if it can youve got 2000 points anyways haha i only have 140 so im not game to try again my points are presious to me haha

well thats weird cos i only have one neg rep on my list and that is from norbie. so where has the other one come from. when i did it it didnt appear on the list of who has given you rep it just minimised my points down.
i swear im not lying. maybe it only happens when you have not recieved any rep yet. or when you first have joined up.
so you can actually click teh icon to see how much rep you have recieved from that one post that you have made. hmm interesting!

maybe because when you hit 30 rep you were able to see how gave you +rep and -rep
and the list got that big you couldnt see who neg repped you,
that list doesnt show every one that has repped you,

only 25-30 rep events are stored on the list, so your last neg rep couldve been 31 events ago, therefore its not on the list.
if you went through mine there'd be 50 neg reps, and about 61 pos reps.

It was your Second rep that you lost points,
so it was before you could see what was going on really, and now you have more the 20 rep votes you can no longer see it.
