    Default Stroked 2JZ Clearances

    Hey guys,

just wondering if anyone would happen to know how close the 3.4L stroker kit for the 2j comes to the block??

Not thinking many people on here would know much about it but any help appreciated

    Cheers

Have a read of Ed's write up on how to build an engine. Pretty sure if thats a Titan kit that your talking about they end up with some undesirable rod/stroke ratio. I think there was a full thread on it on supraforums.

    Yep, I remember reading that.

However, I think the proof is in the pudding with the 3.4L Titan kits.

Has anyone heard of one blowing? I see BL have blown a rod out before and Rrev just did but I don't know if they are Titan built motors. They may use the Titan kit and build them themselves?

Even with an undesirable rod/stroke ratio, Tommy Banh's Titan 3.4L based stroker 2JZ street Supra just took out the Texas Mile beating some dedicated high speed salt flat racers in the process with some left in reserve...

i never said it wont work, i mean even the worst design in the world will make power if you push enough psi through it, appropriateness and sustainability for the retail market was my argument

its about being smart with engine design and development. unfortunately smart doesnt seem to rank with these guys but dont get me started again

plus i wonder exactly what the setup is in those cars? id be willing to put money on a pretty modified long block assembly, and wonder how much of the details of that assembly theyd be willing to share. sure out of the reach of 90% of their marketed customers i'd bet

I don't understand the point of these stroker kits when 1UZ's are so cheap. If I decided 3.0L wasn't enough I wouldn't be stuffing around with $10k internals for a small CC increase, it would be 1UZ/2UZ time for sure! $10k will easily pay for pistons, manifolds and engine mounts, then you have an extra 1000-1700cc to play with.

of course there is more than just a crank, rods and pistons

you dont pay $50K for nothing...I have a mate that just bought a complete setup and it cost him around that...the block has extensive modifications...and they dont start with 2nd hand blocks...they buy brand new suckers from toyota and perfect it from there

also if you had a whole bunch of people wanting to give you $50K for your knowledge and componentry do you think you would devalue it by giving all the R&D info away for free?

he does an impressive burnout thats for sure, hopefully he takes the crown at gazzanats, that would stir up some hard core v8 fans.
