t18 mech 2 way sensitivity

hi guys,
Just got my car back from mechanics after new crown wheel and pinion were put in (pinion got half stripped). But now it seems as if its far too sensitive, it rattles and clunks loudly where in the past it wouldnt.

The question is obviously, whats making it do this? If anyone has some good links it would be great - tried searchin on here but didnt have much luck

I piked out of having a shot at putting it all back together purely because i didnt want to stuff it up and end up with a rattly diff, now it looks like im going to be takin it apart and sorting it out regardless!

and on a side note, whats the mechanism behind the TRD, ive heard that they are of the cone clutch type but didnt really seem right to me....

clutch packs in baskets, no cone type crud in there.
did they set the backlash properly.

Ditto on the oil, what did they use? It may need something that has LSD additive, or more of it.

Also, how long/hard has the diff been used, could it need a rebuild? Did they dissassemble it and check for damage to the clutch packs from metal contam of the fluid from the pinion gear (*if it was driven on after being blown).

excellent picture, now i see. They didnt dissasemble the lsd unit, based on the fact that it didnt get driven at all after the breakage. Saying that though its been through some major use and could possibly need a rebuild.

Initially i thought it may have been incorrectly set lash, in saying this ill illustrate my complete lack of knowledge by mentioning i have no idea what lash actually is! so - if anyone could explain it; dont hold back!

Unless they had did it mistakenly i dont think they would have put the wrong oil in....

mistakes happen.....
i think you need to take it back asap....
it really does sounds like its something they have done, give them a chance to sort it.

The free movement allowed between the crown gear and pinion.
