Which models would this work on?
(I really care about z20, but I guess there will be lots of people wondering the same thing.)

Any car where a computer controlled solenoid regulates the presure. This as far as I know would not include the GZ20.

How about a mechanical solenoid in the PS lines somewhere? to cut the flow at 20km/h+, so you still get easy steering for parking, and good response for driving....

Just look at the rack where the lines go into it.
If there are 2 wires coming from it, you have PPS.

MX73 has PPS, MX83 and MA61 do not.

ok i found the little doover on the rack with 2 wires hanging out. looks like either a solenoid, or a stepper motor or somethings... anyway, it has two wires

so i just buy this jaycar gizmo thingy and adjust the pulsewidth to the control valve and its all good?

which direction does the solenoid go? low speed = high flow, high speed = low flow? or is it just going to be trial and error?

also - how does one program the jaycar PWM??

While an electronic gizmo will certainly make your steering heavier, who's to say you'll be improving the steering feel? I removed the power assistance altogether on my old MA61 and it certainly didn't steer any better - it was just heavy.

More caster will make the steering load up more but it has actual benefits too, ie improved cornering. I know it worked wonders on my RA23, but in that case the steering got too heavy (no power assistance) so I backed it off again.

Another option to consider (although this will probably get thrown in the "too hard basket") is shorter steering arms. My MA61 now has steering arms which are way shorter than stock, and the difference in steering weight was huge - but once again there was a real benefit, ie faster steering. This is something you definitely want in an MA61, not sure about a JZA80 though.

Anyway just throwing some ideas out there.

Ahh poor mx83, If you guys want you can have my mx83 steering . It is almost like manual steering at parking . I will like pps though, easy and simple.

JZA80 Supras have camber bolts fitted to the inner end of the lower control arms. The caster can be increased via these, but generally the amount of increase is hampered by the neccesity to have the LH side caster more positive than the right. Most cars have had a knock of some sort on the LH front wheel, and this tends to reduce the caster. These adjusters also control camber, so that needs to taken into account aswell. If you need a wheel alignment anyway, find a good operator whose prepared to muck around with it a bit, should'nt take much more work than an normal alignment.

Also the adjustment I mentioned earlier is called rack pad adjustment and is mainly to adjust internal free play out of the rack, however this will increase steering weight.

ok, i got the wheel alignment tweaked this morning - its still too light - should i go for even MORE caster? whats a 'big' nuber in caster world?
im going to try disconnecting the PPS loom from the rack and see what that does, then ill further investigate what i can do to get more restriction of flow...

specs of the alignment for those that are interested:

    FRONT:
    partial toe: 0.0mm
    toe: 0.0mm
    camber: -1.5
    caster: +5.5L +5.0R
    king pin: +11.1
    inc angle: +9.4

    REAR:

    partial toe: 0.5mm
    toe: 1.0mm
    camber: -1.3
    thrust angle: 0

restriction of flow is possible with the kit i mentioned before.
    Think about it.
