okay, now that we got the surface finish covered... what should we aim for in terms of port shape?
i'm of the opinion that tapered is best, but can be hard to achieve when you have a valve stem to take into consideration, and a bend (above the valve) that can sometimes choke down. what should we do??

In your subscribed threads bit you can put a thread in a folder which is useful if you want to find things again. Just click on "subscribed threads" in your usercp thing...
In terms of early rough surface porting, I remember ( and he still insists it's the bestmy old man porting just with the die grinder and finishing with a ball tip. Naking the dimples like a tapered golf ball dimple, tapering towards the chamber. Thing is wether it worked or not they were always clean, never a localised area that looked like fuel was condensing.
Oh and NEVER let Ed near a die grinder or this will result
