1UZFE turbo is a big job from what i have heard, have seen it done bfore.
i doubg the 2JZGTE is even remotely possible if you want to keep the motor midmount
either way i'd budget about 50 grand and expect to pay more.
hey my 95 sw20 mrtoo 3sgte is on the way out and ive been saving![]()
maybe time for a big plan...
i was thinking 1UZ but i dont think these come in twin turbo? but the mc8r lemans mr2 was twin turbo using 1UZ??
or a 2JZ-GTTE..
how much do you reckon ruffly these conversions will cost?

Um how much have you saved?
Hope it's a small fortune.![]()
Neither engine will fit without massive mods, in fact, the 2J will not fit full stop!
Unless you go full custom and convert the chassis to accomodate a N/S engine.
The UZ doesn't come from the factory in a turbo variant, but it can be done, with good results![]()
umm dude a 1uz is a v8 and a 2jz is an i6 you could make the 1uz fit although that would be some major surgery there is NO way to make a 2j fit transversely end of story
also judging by your knowledge and depth of though expressed in your post you aren't going to be able to do any of it yourself, further more you haven't been saving enough, i dont know how much money you have but all i can tell you is its not enough. do a search you will find a bit on the mz/vz conversions
also learn to fucking spell the word is roughly not "ruffly" you also should search and perhaps read the FAQ regarding engine coding and then try and find a 1UZFTE that has come out of the factory.
re: 1uz/2jz conversion...
Q1: do you have over $40k saved up? if the answer is no, stop thinking about those conversions![]()
just buy the le mans car.
search on google or even here i think i saw a post ages ago, some fella in the states i think put a starfire is it ? v8 in his mr2 aw11 thats the closest your gonna get.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
starfire! ROFL! Thats going backwards in a big way.
But in answer to the original question: as everyone has said. You better be seriously cashed up and ready for some real headaches. Just chuck another 3SGTE in there and spend the money you have saved on doing it properly with a bigger turbo, fuel system, computer and cooling. And if you've saved a fair bit, internals as well.
put a v6 from a camry in it. 1mz or 3vz i think they are.
;-)
heh heh, is it school holidays already??
(sorry - not constructive input)
not sure how i missed it, but its also spet "MR2", not MRtooOriginally Posted by skiddz

As for swaps... From what I can gather anything other than a Gen 3 3sGTE is a waste of time. Based on second hand info, If you want a good reliable easy to drive daily... camry V6 swap. or Put another gen 2 3sgte, having said that you already have a gen 3 3sgte, so your best bet is to find another one and put it back in there and build it up as the other guys have said. Again, based on what others have told me, you'll get a quicker and more drivable car from a nicely worked gen 3 3sgte than any other crazy swap.
edit: Or heres a crazy wild outthere idea... Repair and rebuild your current engine, if you swap PM me I'll take your old engine... and I wont charge you either!
WTF is a 2JZ-GTTE? We're not stupid Nissan scum...
