    Default rebuild kit

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-89...7845QQtcZphoto

    Any opinions on this kit?

    Price is good.
ACL bearings so no problems there.
    Aisin oil pump.
Water pump not much of a concern same as belt.
Ive had these sort of unknown gasket kits before and found them no worse than ACL. Cam gaskets are never any good.

So that leaves pistons and rings to consider. Anyone used them before?

Dont need the pistons or big ends and they wont fit my bigport anyway but for that price i dont think i could go wrong with the other stuff.

How bad could the pistons be? likley to crack & fall apart you think?

I emailed these guys when rebuilding my 7MGE and asked about the origins of their piston sets. Answer was Indonesia. So I ended up buying an ACL piston and ring kit through the engine machine shop.

In my view not worth the risk. If anything is not 100% then you will end up with a bigger problem and no way to return it.

pistons look a bit agricultural, but... if the oil pump is genuine, might be worth it for the pumps and bearings etc...

Note that the water pump is a FWD one as well.

Got the kit 4 days after i purchased it.
Genuine oil pump, GMB water pump, ACL bearings, timing belt has no markings, rings are NPR(same as Toyota i believe) and pistons actually look fine but are 20mm pin so no good for my big port.
Gasket kit is pretty good too with the cam cover gaskets copies of the original so will seal a lot better than ACL.

Don't think you can beat the value of the kit and the pistons would be fine in a street motor.
