To me it sounds like your brake booster, I sort of have this problem with my Landcruiser (bit different) but my problem is the booster.
hey guys, while my T-18 is in the shed and out of action ive been driving my dads 1990 toyota tarago around n it has brake problems, a couple weeks ago i noticed when you pull up at the lights n hold ur foot on the brakes then drive off and if you have to put the brakes back on straight away they go straight to the floor so u have to pump them up again to work,
now its undriveable as they go to the floor all the time now, after moving the car into the driveway the other nite when the motor was cold i noticed that wen i put my foot on the brakes it made the engine sound like it wanted to stall and when i took my foot off it went back to its normal rpm, im either thinking it could be a vaccum problem? could be in the master cylinder or the pads but im leaning towards master cylinder or vaccum, it doesnt leak or use the fluid anymore then normal....
i havnt really had the time too look at it as ive got a little girl now and trying to be a family man and work all the time and get somewhere with my T-18 is time consuming and i thought id ask before i pull stuff apart that i dont need to. thanx alot kyle

yah, thatll be your booster or your master.
If the master is on the way out it can leak fluid down the bore which ends up in the booster and roots it, and also gives you a wide variety of symptoms.
id reccomend checking the one way valve on the booster, if thats ok then bleed the system, if it still drives naff then pull of the master and booster and have a look. if its all still a mystery take your master and booster to someone who know their shit and ask them![]()
GA23(never finished-now with cracked block) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.
Brake pedal going to the floor is NOT a symptom of a bad booster, if anything a bad booster will make the pedal rock hard and you won't get it anywhere near the floor.
The symptoms described suggest a problem with the hydraulics - either you're out of brake fluid or the master cylinder is rooted. If you're not confident about diagnosing and servicing brake components I strongly suggest you get the car towed to a workshop, brakes are one area where you don't want to muck around!

I agree with norbie, could be leaky master or slaves but strait to a brake place would be the best.
