Re: 4AGE squirting oil over bonnet/ sucking air in when filler cap removed?
could well be blowby,
do a compression or leak down test on your motor to find out.
when you pull over, has your dipstick popped out of the tube? does it seal properly?
ghetto fix is to hold the dipstick into the tube wit ha spring, you don't want to clamp it over as the pressure has to go somewhere.

Re: 4AGE squirting oil over bonnet/ sucking air in when filler cap removed?
My old 300,000kms thrashed bigport still showed 170psi on all cylinders, and yet still had a large amount of blow-by past 4500rpm. So even if your compression is good you could very well have heaps of blow-by.

Goolz, was it consuming oil? I have noticed on alot of oil burning 3sge's that the compression readings come out pretty good becuase of all the oil sealing the rings to the bore.

It was using probably 1ltr per 5000kms of hard driving, on easy driving it would use less. Which I think is pretty good for a engine thats done 300,000kms. No smoke at all other than the blow-by.
When i pulled the plenum off that was another story, you could scrape the carbon/oil buildup off with a knife.

Re: 4AGE squirting oil over bonnet-leak down test was fine?
mate came over the other day, we popped his KE70 bonnet, and he had oil on the bonnet...
are you sure its coming out of the dip stick hole? i mean, are you certain?
head gasket wouldnt make oil squirt out.
also, how much oil are we talking here, a thin film on the underside of the bonnet, or bad enough to run and drip to the back of the bonnet when you open it?
quick test might be to clean it all up, chuck a rubber band over the dip stick to hold it in tight, take it for a quick stint, and re check, if theres still oil on the bonnet, then thats not your problem...
i also noticed, that my mates engine has a breather on the cam covers, is yours the same? a little tube sticking out the top...?
sorry for the interrogation, just trying to help

Re: 4AGE squirting oil over bonnet-leak down test was fine?
The car Eldar is talking about is mine. After we put the 4AGE in, it ran fine, no oil other than the distributor leak. One day, I check under the bonnet and there' drips of oil on the underside and a few spots on the top of the firewall. There was some oil under the runners and all over the tvis vacuum tank as well.
I thought it was dipstick initially, since it had popped up a little so I pushed that down, took it for a drive and it wasn't that. ]
I looked around the engine to see where it could have been coming from and couldn't find it.
A few days ago, it suddenly stopped doing it. Couldn't find a trace of oil on the intake side but I hadn't done anything that would effect that problem and I'm still clueless as to what caused it. I sealed up a few holes in the exhaust and that was about it.
