Default help with MA61 ID of struts/brakes

    hey guys,

I need a little help identifying some brakes/struts that are on my MA61.

    story goes like this:

I got a MA61 i bought off a mate that was kind of dodgy with his cars. He also had a XX ma61 that he had swapped parts to/from so im stuck as to what parts i actually have. Is there any way of identifying what struts and calipers i have? like model numbers or anything like that.

I have a spare set of struts that i got from him but i have no idea what they are off (ma61/ra60 etc) only thing i can see is they are single pot calipers.

The calipers that are on the car at the moment needed part of the dust shield to be cut away. The problem now is the pads overlap over the top of the brake rotors and i want to get new slotted rotors.

If it helps anyone i can take pccies of both lots.

    cheers guys
    any help is greatly appreciated

I could take a stab in the dark and say MA61 calipers, XX brake disc protector plates.

Pics would help a lot though

Aus MA61 brakes are 258mm - RA6x stuff is the same.
    Jap MA61(XX) brakes are 248mm

Both are single piston, calipers are different (not compatible with the other disc)

Backing plates not sure, never compared.

Struts are the same. Hubs are the same. Bearings are the same.

What Hydra has said seems feasible.

I have GA61 and MA61 calipers sitting around... and I did have the discs (think they are at a friends parents place atm!)

The shields are DEFINETLY different, found that out when i tried to put the MA61 calipers in place of the GA61 ones while testing things out.

    ive taken some pics

    Pad wear
You can see my problem with the overlapping pads

    Brakes on supra

    brakes on supra 2

    brakes on supra 3
You can see where i cut the dust shield to fit the calipers on

    brake on supra 4

    spare struts 1

    spare struts 2

    spare strust 3

Im pretty sure what hydra said is correct. Im thinking i have XX struts with MA61 calipers which would account for the pad overlap. Im assuming then my spare struts are MA61 stockies with stock calipers? That would be the ideal situation as then i can rebuild the struts (rotors bearings etc) outside the car.

I have still yet to measure the size difference (old school metal measuring tape is hard to use on rotors)

hahaha i can post some of my home made porn but i recon it wouldn't last long and besides youd all get embarressed

    thanks guys

Without going outside to take a look, thats XX brake disc + MA61 calipers... pretty sure of that

Those spare struts looks like RA60 items to me because of the 'weak' looking spring, still brakes and calipers are same though and by swapping in RA60 struts you get a few degrees of negative camber correct?
