on both the old forums and the new, there is sooo much stuff about the ST162 turbo converstion (3s-gte) its not funny.
i have owned a 86 celica SX for 6 months now and have been contemplating an engine conversion, i have heard that an ST165 would be the easiest conversion, why is this?
i like the car alot, though at the moment money is not an issue as i am only tryin to get a rough idea of the price.
so could someone please help me get a rough estimate of the whole comversion when done all in the workshop, are there any other things i need to know bout the conversion?
Cheers

yeh i kno that i am lookin 4 rough estimate on price and y the ST165 conversion is the easiest
its easiest because its a turbo motor that bolts straight in (same engine mounting positions (because its an "S" motor) -- you would know that if you searched)
it will cost you a rediculous amount of money to get a workshop to do it... everyone here just does it themselves..
i kno all the S motors are interchangable, i was just tryin to get an idea of a price as i have no mechanic experience.
i also heard that the 165 loom hooks right up to the 162 stuff, is this true?
for a workshop to do it you would be looking at about $10,000
if you can do it all yourself you will just get away with it for $5,000
there are a couple of things on the loom that needs changing
pity your so far away, or you could just buy mine, already tricked out with the engine.
