    Ah I see, a different variation on a dodgy theme - except this is even worse because pinging can lead to permanent engine damage!

    Next thing - Celica 22R 'ECU' has no control on timing... So drowning it with further fuel is hardly going to improve anything except spark plug sooting.

    I dunno how right you are about that. This is true with the american earlier celicas. But the ra65 I noticed when wireing up my megasquirt that there was actually timing control done by the computer. Switched on vac switches that turned on or off the advance on the dizzy. Its even marked on the board of the ecu.

    But yeah I agree with you on not playing with the mixture. If anything a stock ra65 needs to be leaned out a bit I think.
