Hi,
We had to obtain some certificates pertaining to the Club. These have recently been acquired, and we are now currently in the process of requesting certification with the NSW RTA so Toymods can issue and operate Historic Vehicle plates.
So, stay tuned. I'll keep you posted. Hopefully it should all be done in the next few weeks 'cos The-88 is up for rego in early May and I'd rather plonk her on historics, instead of forking out for a year of standard rego.
If Toymods does get the ability to offer Historic Vehicle plates, you will need to be a financial member of the Toymods Car Club to get them for your vehicle - assuming it meets the RTA's criteria for historic registration.
Also, when we get the ability to do Historic Plates, there will probably be a separate section in these forums for historics, with information regarding their usage, RTA requirements, Toymods Car Club requirements, etc.

good stuff, hope it works out
for any VICTORIAN members that may want this, the TCCA have offered their club as a club registererd for this scheme, and will put any requested TOYMODS events on their calendar or others as well, so cars can be used for these events.

Hi,
Good news!!!!!!
Toymods was successful in its bid for Historic plates. We are now approved by the NSW RTA to have historic vehicles in our club and can issue plates for them.
We need to check the Clubs constitution and get the changes put through, reflecting the changes to allow Historic vehicles, and we are all done.
How cool is that!!!!!
Stay tuned, especially if you own an original Historic Toyota.

awesome i might have to use this service when i get back
what happens when you sell a car with historic rego?

My understanding is that historic rego is non transferrable so the car has to be sold as unregisterred.
nice work River. Historic plates are something i will be considering in the future
saweet! $50 rego ftw!
with this scheme, can NSW members travel to VIC for a CLUB event, now that TOYMODS is registered for the scheme.
is it registered for nsw only, or Australia wide?
Hi,
Details need to be worked out, but in essence, if you are a financial member of Toymods and your vehicle is roadworthy (ie got a pink slip) and it is 30 (or older) years of age, and original, then you can use it for the following:-
- Toymods Club Events
- Toymods Meetings
- Events by other registered Car Clubs that have officially invited Toymods to attend
- Service runs to get the vehicle serviced/registered
Each time you wish to use the vehicle you need to inform the Toymods Historic Car Registrar so it is logged. This is to cover both you and Toymods should you be involved in any incidents or the cops pull you over, as we can produce the log book to say the vehicle was being used and approved by Toymods. If you drive it and don't tell Toymods beforehand, then you're on your own if something happens.
If another registered Car Club, be it local or interstate, has an official event and sends an official written invitation to Toymods to participate then I cannot see why the vehicle cannot be driven to that event. However, it only covers you to drive to the event, attend the event and come home. If you decide to spend a week (assuming it is interstate) touring around, then you're on your own, as this is beyond the limits of useage for Historic-plate vehicles.
The RTA has seen fit to award us the ability to have historic vehicles in our club, and as such we will not be lax and jeopardise this privelege by allowing Historic-plate vehicles to be used outside of the sanctions imposed by the NSW RTA.
Again, let me repeat that the Toymods Board are discussing the finer details of how we will manage the Historic-plated vehicles, and as soon as we get this done we will let you all know.

you tend to regret it??? and then in ten years time spend the next ten years tracking it down to find out it's been neglected, crashed, or crushedOriginally Posted by oldcorollas

river: a few queries if OK?
Issuing plates - do you (Toymods) physically issue registration plates that come from a stock of them held by the club - or do you just provide the approval paperwork that a person then takes to the RTA to be issued the plate by the RTA?
Registers - do you have to keep a register of use of the vehicles to comply with your 'Issuing' status, or is there a minimum administrative requirement (e.g. register of allocation) that the board has decided isn't enough for audit/management purposes.
Am just curious as to how your system is operated by clubs - up here in Qld, the dating certificate and mandatory club membership is really all that's required of applicants.
It is required that there is a registrar kept in the club for all usage of the vehicles on historic rego. This is a requirement of the RTA not our choice. If someone on historic rego is pulled up using the car on public roads and it is not for an official event or logged with the registrar then they can have their registration cancelled and the club can lose the privellige of doing historic rego.
You forgot to use the word MAINTENCE runs which will get you off most of what the police will pull you over for. Its like taking your car for a drive during non club events and maintaining it or taking it in for repairs, the police cannot stop you because being a good citizen you have to a road worthy at all times.
