Well decision is made, wheels ordered (this model was on sale too)
Went for 16x7, partly as the offset of this wheel is +38 and stock is +37. Its the closest offset to stock I've seen. Putting on a semi-performance 205/45/16 all around. All up $1500.

    Thanks, Nick.

lokos nice. although probaly a little too high in the offset dept. a +32-35 would have been a better choice given your going wider.

Yeah, the previous wheels were 15x7 +35 which I think is near ideal. But these will do...for now that is.. And also consider the extra inch (over stock) is going to put add approx 12mm to either side of the 'stock' wheel (ignoring the 1mm error ).

I had 17x7's 40+ offset with dunlop sp sport maxx tires (205/40/17), going from standard alloys to these was great, I had to do something about the grip after I went from open diff and standard brakes to LSD and Celica Twin pots! I've been told that my car suited the 17's.
    What do you lot reckon?

    Here's a pic

While 17's look big, I like it. The bit that scares me is having only 30mm of sidewall between the rim and road.

wouldn't the side wall be 62.5mm on a 205/40 aspect tyre...

Maybe, but it doesn't look like that much in the picture. Isnt 205 x 40% = 82mm? Or am I confused ?

The diagonally opositie wheel nuts are 100mm apart, comparing that to the tyre thickness between road and rim, I'd say its less than 50mm.

    yep, you are right... been a long day... did 205 / 40 x 100 instead or 205 x 40 / 100

even so... it's definitely not 30mm

for me, on aw11, 15 is a max, anymore is for personal taste. I have 17" on the sw20, and to me, looks too big. Key for 80's box shape car is...lowoffset and 14-15" diameter hehe
