    Default 1G freshen up

Much as I have always told myself I'd never bother with one, it seems that I've talked myself into playing with a 1G.

Anyway, as I'm only a newcomer to the G clan, perhaps I could raid other's thoughts on a few things:

Bearings: Is there anything wrong with using a new set of genuine 1G bearings? Or are the hugely expensive, and other stuff is better?

    Rings: Same as bearings

Bolts: I was planning to use ARP big end, main and head studs. If someone happened to have the part numbers handy, I'd love them very much lots

Crank: My engine is a GA70 from '86; is there really much benefit in changing to the later style crank, given I'm aiming for about 300rwkw and 8000rpm, or will the old one do just fine?

Rods: Stock ones look fine to me, any specifics to be aware of?

    Pistons: Same as rods

Head gasket: I had my eye on the HKS metal offering

Oil: Was going to use a standard front sump, remove the standard water cooler and add an external core and remote filter. Is there anything to be aware of with the standard oil pump etc.? Also, how do I avoid failure of the end bearings with long abuse sessions?

Any other suggestions would always be appreciated!

Bearings: Genuine is expensive, Aftermarket are better quality.

    Rings: Same as bearings

Bolts: Mains and Head studs are available easily

Crank: Only change it and rods to the 42mm journal bigends if you have them, makes for a better choice of bearings.

Rods: Seem good, 6Boost uses them at big power and 9000rpm +

    Pistons: Same as rods

Head gasket: No more HKS left, I bought the last 2 sometime ago. Standard or copper is the only option left..

Oil: Block modifications are advised, to prolong life of bigends, there is some info on this in the 6boost runs 9's thread.

PS... I pushed the wrong button ealier mrshin
