    Default 20v starting then dieing

    hey guys

    got the 20v running this morning, i had it "idling" (rough as guts) for a bit, then i just randomly died, started it again did its thing where it cranks starts revs a little bit then instead of going back to idle it dies, now if i open the throttles a bit its ok still rough as guts and seems to almost be back firing (only a few once or twice)_, i can then get it to hold revs but will die if i let the throttle go

    WTF is wrong with it?

    TPS wired up wrong?
    How old is the fuel in the tank?

    tps is fine didnt touch that part of the loom, the fuel is about 2 months old i think

    Maybe try some fresh fuel, drain the tank and put some 98 in there.. I think the 20v would expect to be fed higher octane stuff if it came from japan

    yeah but i dont think that would cause it to die like that, i might add that i had fuel pouring outta the exhaust before..... ill check/replace the plugs see if that makes a difference

    There is a throttle stopper (in fact more than one - quad throttles ) that sets the resting position of the throttle when closed - it might need adjusting.

    has all the idle bypass stuff been set up?

    Should still idle. You cleaned the crap outta the throttle bodies I hope... and got the injectors cleaned/tested?? MAP sensor working properly?? I had an aftermarket ECU had that problem due to a faulty MAP reading. OXY sensor would allow it to run/idle, so I doubt it would be that. Timing all good??

    Just a few suggestions for you to try and hump the leg back onto the 3 legged dog

    i have NFI about the idle bypass, but i will have a look at the throttle stoppers, IIRC i have to take the airbox and trumpets off to get to them...

    owen its AFM

    timing is all good as are injectors and TB's

    checked for vacuume leaks?

    does it seem like its dieing from too much air?, or not enough air?

    Have you managed to get it warm and see if it idles when warm?

    probably your icv... vacuum line disconnected etc. sounds like a bit vaccum leak else the fuel pressure reg isnt working properly - or fuel pump cant hold pressure

    old fuel will cause it, has happened to me on 2 occasions , fouls the plugs almost instantly and then dies and wont start til u clean the plugs but it will just foul them again, change the fuel and it should be apples...

    if the fuel reg isnt connectd it will run more fuel pressure and a bit more fuel pressure wont make it run like that...

    as with a vacum leak it will jst idle higher, it usualy doesnt cause it to idle roughly and stall.

    its prob the air flow meter
    or you have left the rubber pipe of the intake that sits under the blqck plenum that goes to the isc motor

    its a common thing when people do conversions they forget about this pipe if they had to fuk round with intake

    is it a rather large od pipe compared with the others???

    any pictures to point out which one it is???
