    Default Stalling When Stopping.

    Hi all ,

Just need some help with the only issue left with my Cresta.

The engine is all sweet, idles fine etc etc
    drives fine, no smoke
    nice and smooth.

Only issue is when i slow down and come up to lights once the car completely stops it will stall , which i can put it in park or neutral again and start it , and drive again ...
Sometimes just before it stalls you can smash the accel a few times and it will keep going ..

    The engine is a 1S-U 4Cyl, 1.9 Carby
which is almost identical to a 2S found in ST141 etc.

Could it be fuel pump issue or a break booster issue ?

    all help much appriciated.

Sounds like your idler Jets could be blocked, Dales point about the Aircon is valid to. idler jets are pretty easy to pull out and spray with carby cleaner worth a try if you dont figure it out.

Did you do the idling while the car was in drive with the handbrake on?or in park?

seems that his is a common problem in 4age's. I've had this issue and what i was suggested by (lunar_c i think it was) was to clean out the TB, ISCV and adjust timing if needed.

    So far it has worked

Although in my case the car did have some idling issues where it'd drop to 600 at one set of traffic lights and then idle normally ~900rpm at the next set, so your problem might be something else.

    hm

    it's the fuel pump...

it's very common problem in my country with the cressidas that have the same 4 cylinder carburettor motor.. ... it only happens when the car is stopped... a bit like the 4A-Cs and that diaphragm thing where it pushes in more fuel... except it's more predictable..

ur fuel pump is vaccum driven is it not?

if there is a trick, i'd like to know as well.. (if it doesn't involve an electric fuel pump)

the idler isn't flooding your carby is it? my mate's mini had issues with part of the carby getting too full of petrol and causing idle issues after driving (nb: I have no idea about carbies or proper terminology, so I can offer nothing more specific)

and how do i know if its getting flooded whilst driving ?

If started in my driveway , idles at about 1.2k as we turned the idle screw up just a tad (stock was ~800) without failing, but once drivin it will stall
    eg.

Im going 60kph. up a street , lights turn orange, start breaking ... all is well ... once i get close to a dead stop .. STALL

where can i find my jets to clean ?
