I don't understand how an ecu can go out of tune???

I guess maybe if the sensors are dodgey but that would be the sensors fault rather than the ecu???

Love your car by the way. For some reason I always thought you had a haltech. Mine is for an AW11 as well. It is a toss up between blacktop and gen3 3sge...basically whichever one comes up first for a reasonable price.

How doe the EMS go with the vvti on the blacktop...have you maintained the intelligent part or is it just switch on and off now?
despite common rumours the blactop's vvti was still simply on / off based on rpm and throttle position. I've got the EMS's aux output switching it via a relay, and the settings are quite reasonable for this IMO. You can have an output switching on/off based on rpm, tps, vac, temp etc. The problem is there's only two aux out-puts and I've got the other one of them doing the fuel pump control, so I can't really add anything else. The later versions have more outputs to play with afaik.

Hey finally got the EMS, its a Version 3, serial looks like this ST3xxxxx/IG does this mean i can get it updated or not.
I should probably just call them but as I am retarded when it comes to ECU's i don't think I will under stand anything they tell me, if i can just send it off to get updated, i think this will be the best option

And sorry guy's not for sale now

I rang them today to find out about this, You where nearly there ivan but not quite, if the serial number starts with 4 it is upgradable as some version 4's still run the version 3 firmware but no version 3's are upgadable to varsion 4 unfortunatly.

I will still keep the version 3

Just looking through this thread, I have a chance to get myself one of these as part of a pack of stuff (for another car) and I'm wondering if anyone has had much experience putting one of these in (I'm looking in your direction Witzl) and/or tuning one.

The car it would go in is pretty basic and apparently all the gear is there so I'm just wondering what I do to confirm its working i.e what the software is like and so on.

ECU's are not hard to wire in if you have a basic understanding of sensors and 12v, if you have a multimeter youll be fine.

Providing you have the settings for ignition and how the fuel injectors are wired in you can get the car started easy enough, if you get a lambda sensor kit with controller etc tuning is easy enough but it is easy to wreck your engine also. N/A engines are not so dangerous, although i would probly leave it to the pro's when it comes time to tune mine again, it will save you from pulling your hair out.

If your lucky enough there is a page on there sight where you can download other people's tune settings, but i would still get a pro to look at it,

I work with a guy who has tuned a fair few of these and he seems to think they are a fairly good (bang for your buck) unit, he has not had a problem with them so far.

I haven't installed mine yet but I'm not to far of it so this would be interesting to see some reply s

I've checked it out and it's a version 4 Stinger as well so it looks very promising.
