I wouldn't know anything about actually doing it but I hope you go through with it because that really would sound damn nice![]()
hey all...
was pondering ideas for weird and wonderful conversions the other day, and i started to think about the 7M-GE's i have in the shed and how i was planning on doing the conversion into my crown, but i was planning to do it a little different. remove all the EFI gear, and run side draft carbies... just to be different, i'm not looking for great loads of power as it would be going in the crown.. just something that makes a wicked sound when you step on the gas... anyone found anything about other people doing similar conversions? i know it's probably one of the stupidest conversions around, but was just thinking about it for the entertainment value... will never end up actually doing it though...
thoughts?

its been done to 4AG's quite a few times,
custom intake mani, and 3 38 webbers would be nice...plus 6 polished ram tubes
when it comes to ign...im clueless.....lol
yeah.. lol... would be worth doing just for the ram tubes i reckon... i was curious how difficult it would be to manage the ignition, and all the other sensors etc on the thing... i'm sure you could get an ignition only ecu for that side of it, but what about the sensors?

Head over to celicasupra.com, at least one guy has done/is doing this with a 5M-GE and there has been much discussion on the topic.
BTW have you priced 3x Webers (either new or second-hand with rebuild) plus tuning by someone who actually knows how to do it? You might be shocked just how much it will cost you before you even start to consider the custom inlet manifold and the ignition side of things. It's all well and good to be "different" but you have to pay for it!

Triple Webers have been done - main issues are making the manifold and the expense of acquiring and tuning the carbs. To make the manifold, use the bottom half of the intake manifold - you'll need to blank off the injector ports and probably move the runners a bit. Ignition is straightforward - just modify a 5ME dizzy.
Have you thought about using some 20V throttle bodies and a cheap aftermarket ECU? Will be better and probably cheaper.
Lol i've just finished putting a 5ME together with a 4M carby setup on it![]()

lol... like i said in the first post, there's about 0.0% chance i'll acctually do the conversion... making up a manifold and tuning won't be an issue, can do that myself, or call daddy if i get stuck... cost of triple carbs obviously would be an issue, but i'm toying with ideas as to what obstacles would get in the way...
if ever it was done, it certainly wouldn't be for power or econ, just for the "omfg... listen to that" value of it... pure bling... ol' school bling...
but as i said... probably won't be me who does the conversion... the crown is for sale, as are the engines...

probably be more cost effective and more power productive to use triple DCOE throttle bodies. should still have a similar roar to teh weeebers

Don't worry, there'll be someone out there mad enough to try it.
Above info settles into back of mind..![]()

This I have just GOT to see!!!Originally Posted by haison

You would actually get quite a bit of power from DCOE carbs, its really only the fuel eccon that would suffer.
Can it be done ? Yes
Should it be done ? Yes
Will it be done ? No
I will likely venture down the ITB path for my 2jzge, it will sound sooo good![]()
Send me the motor and i'll do the conversion![]()
Cheers Brett.
only if i get the converted motor back afterwards, and i'm only out of pocket for the transport![]()
