Doesnt Autronic have a dedicated taco output wire that gives a std signal to all taco's ?
Surely a ECU such as Autronic has this.
Hi All
I have a 4AGZE setup in my sprinter, been like this for a while now, and I have no tacho. Now before I get neg rep'd i've found the thread to convert the stocko tacho in the cluster
http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.p...t=0#msg_828470
But I am in the middle of making my own dash and want to run a tacho and a VDO speedo too. I've found the sender I need from the gearbox to make that work all fine and dandy, But the tacho I'm still puzzled with
Can I use a motor bike one??

I'm aware that the reason I can't use a "normal" one is something to with the pulse from the igniter and sending a signal like a 2cyl motor(?)
I'm running an SMC and as far as i'm aware there is no tacho output from the puter that I can tap into....
I've never been very good with elec's so any help on this would be great.... Cheers

as far as I'm aware, the SMC doesn't..... (not happy Jan!!!!!!)
I think the SM2 and SM4's do tho.

umm... the output of the 4A-GZE ignitor is not a 2-cylinder signal as you suggest... its a lower voltage square wave signal with the correct frequency, just different type of signal waveshape.
Get yourself a tacho booster, and you will be set - that is unless the VDO gauge will work directly off the ignitor's tacho output (it should do?)
...... butt scratcher?!
This might also be of use to you if you still get stuck.

And the SMC/SM2 do not have a dedicated tacho output signal. The SM4 does.

Thanks Guys!!!
