    Default Help on 18R-C carburettor renovation

    Hi,
    i have a Toyota Cressida Combi 1978 with 18R-C engine, 65kW DIN, 1968ccm, chassis# RX35-006326.

    I would like to renovate the carburettor, but i don't know what typ/model/number it is that i have, so that i could find spare parts.
    I found a setup schematic for the hoses that says "setup for 78-79 RA40 (austrailia), and the schematics fits the one in my car, and the carburettor on the picture looks like mine. Is "RA40" the model of the carburettor?

    I have some picures of the carburettor at www.rosenqvistdesign.se/pub/permanent/

    Please help!

    Thanks and regards;
    Carl

    They are an Asian branded carbie.RA 40 is not the model of the carbie but the type of Toyota it is in which is the Celica. If you are looking for a rebuild kit Ebay Australia quite often have them.
    Cheers Brett.

    Check out which way will be cheaper for you. Have you looked at local auto shops..cos theyre pretty easy to find here in Australia. I'm sure any rebuild kit will be fine, you'll prolly have alot of gaskets and random bits left over since it includes more parts than you need.

    Ok, perhaps i should try the one from E-bay (link on my previous post)? It's pretty cheap.. or perhaps your link..?

    Do you have the same carburettor as me? (AISAN that is, or what..?)

    Anything special to think about when renovation? Springs plunging out or so..? =)

    The Fuel Miser one would be your best bet as that should have all the necessary bits for your pollution carb as for the one that you yourself linked to is for the pre pollution carb which most likely would not have all the bits in it you may need.
    Cheers Brett.

    Both of the carby kits shown are wrong. The RA40 had even more pollution shit than the RA23/28. The RA40 carbs also had different fitment to the RA23 items where they go onto the manifold. You will need a kit to suit 1978-1981 18RC.

    Good luck mate, just remember where the bits came from, and you should be ok. Lots of carby cleaner to get it all shiny too.
