RAd... read the forum rules with regards to posting in the parts wanted section. You will find that the parts wanted, toyotas for sale and toyotas wanted sections are all free run to ALL members regardless of rep etc. The reason being that asking for help when in need (ie, you blew up your motor and need another) is good spirit, but using these forums to peddle your parts is abuse.

I fail to see how you can mistake tech and conversions for parts wanted, they are miles apart. And as already stated, there is NO reason he couldnt have posted in the correct section where he would have been helped a lot more.

owen, i'm perfectly aware of the forum rules, i made note of them myself in my post letting him know i have an engine available.

and as far as i'm aware, he COULDN'T have posted in wanted, because at the time of posting, atleast at the time i saw the thread, his rep was 10. again, as far as i know, you need atleast 30 to post in classified section.

As Owen has said you only need 30 rep or more to post in the parts FS sections, the Parts Wanted and Toyotas FS/Wanted are open from day dot.

I agree that the rules are clearly published and should have been read, but newbies are a little harshly treated on this forum.

It is difficult to get a logon and if you ask a stupid question or post in the wrong section you are generally slammed quite hard, either verbally or rep wise.

Either way I think we should be a little more forgiving and helpful to the newbies - It would have taken mere seconds for a mod to move this thread to parts wanted.

I offered sound advice on where to find a motor, and asked a legitimate question as to the state of the motor. I also advised that there are rules which need to be followed. If you have your P's and a copper pulls you over for doing a few extra ks over the limit... does he let you off with a warning the first time?? NO!!! because you wont learn. I think that 2 warnings and advice on reading the rules (which I was given early after the new forums were introduced) is fair. The neg rep only comes on the second breach.

It would have taken him mere seconds to say
"shit, sorry, can a mod please move this??, by the way RAd, can you give me more details on the motor you have??"

Wouldnt that have benefited him more than saying we are full of it... he may have had a few leads on motors that he could have used then.
