Default 1JZ GTE VVT Journal Article

I came across a journal article about the introduction of VVT to the 1JZ-GTE.
I figured that there would be a few here that would appreciate it, so I put it up.
    Article here:

Keep in mind, at that time everything produced in Japan had a claimed maximum HP of 280.

The article is basically 10 years old now, so it's more for posterity than anything else.

    Hope someone else enjoys it!

Yes, the higher compression and VVTi is certainly apparent in the torque comparisons there!

Sure feels it on the road too - twin turbo 1JZ's feel so much more sluggish and old-school in comparison.

talk about bashing the non VVTi 1J.

good article, very informative, extremely biased too, but i suppose its more from the "regular" consumers point of view, from a modification point of view, im sure this only holds true for minor performance mods.

As for bias, it was written in Japanese by the engineers responsible for the new version of the engine.
I am guessing that they wanted to tell everyone how much better the new version was...
