Default Which brand of coilover for my AE92 Seca?

I'm researching coilovers for my AE92 seca, and have come up with a list of candidates. Cost isn't much of an issue, I just want something good with camber plates and pillow ball mounts etc. etc.

    Ksport - CTY08-KP
    D2 - D2-T09
    G4 - from justjap.com (their ebay sale says corolla's from '88 to '97)
    ISC - T004
    JIC magic - AE92FLTA2
Tein HA (If I can find them.....)
Cusco (I have heard they are avaliable for the AE92, don't know details though...)

Spring rates hover around 7-8 kg/mm for the fronts and 5-6 kg/mm for the rear.

What are peoples suggestions and experiences? Are there others out there? (Bilstein maybe?) I couldn't find any info on Cusco coilovers (zero-2's would be nice) and the Tein's seem rather hard to track down.

why do you want Coilovers? what are your plans for the car? i think OLDCORROLAS once said "if you don't now why you want coilovers you don't need them"

but if your plans are for the track Tein all the way (personal opinion), to hard for on road use, but will devastate on the track.

Mainly for hill work and track work. I am installing Whiteline swaybars, Superpro bushings throughout and an AE102 rear disc brake and suspension setup.
Handling for road isn't too much of a concern, the car is being race prepped anyway (but still retaining the rego... just.....)
Just want peoples advice and experience before laying down the hard earnt.

Do you know where I can get the Tein's? Would Fulcrum stock the HA series?

I might have to contact them tomorrow. Their workshop/office is about 20 minutes drive from my place.

Any ideas about the fitment of the Cuscos?

I have some JIC coilovers in mine. Theyre pretty bouncy but not hard, handle pretty well but ive still got stock swaybars and could go some new bushes also. I'm sure with this stuff id be even more impressed.

I think Koni only make the inserts, I could be wrong, but that's what Fulcrum quoted me on, and they're almost the same price as coilovers. Then I need springs....

If anyone can give me details, that would be great.

Last set of Tein HA's I saw went for $600aud on yahoo japan, add to that fees/freight and you'd be looking at high $100's possibly $1k for second hand units. These looked in good condition, but you never know...

Koni's are also about $1k, you'll need to cut apart your rear shocks, shove the inserts in and put a bolt through them to hold it in.. Add to that springs and yes, you have the equivalent of a decent set of 2nd hand coilovers.

Tein HA's or Cusco Zero2's perhaps.

Cusco has their "Comp-S" kit for the AE92....

    http://www.cusco.co.jp/06_ctg/6sus_kit/06cs_27.pdf

cost is 166000 yen... exchange rate makes it about $1400 (USD)

Concerning Tein I believe they have discontinued their AE92 options, although they still list AE101/AE111 products....

True, AE92 is no longer available according to Fulcrum, but the AE101 Tein Superstreet coilovers will cost $2605.97 to get into my hot little hands. Only difference is the brake line mounts. Cableties FTW.
I may be able to get a set of Tein Flex coilovers to suit AE101, but they won't be street legal apparently. How much better than the Super streets will they be?

I have emailed Maz-sport.com in New Zealand about the Cuscos, and the Comp S with adjustable top pillow ball mounts for the AE92 will cost about $2640 landed.
I have replied asking info on AE101 coilovers. Hopefully Zero-2's will be an option.

Which are regarded as the better coilover???? Anyone had experience with any of these?

What did Toyota use for their AE92 SX race car? The one that used to run (and win) at Bathurst? I suspect they are TRD?

    Maybe TRD still make them?

What about the Fightex ones that TODA sell?

What sort of price range are they? Aren't the TRD ones just inserts?

I can't imagine they'd be cheap, being a TRD part. I am sure that TRD made both the shocks and springs at some stage, but I would think the shocks are the insert type rather than a whole new assembly.

We can verify this by getting someone who has the TRD price and parts list, and having a look!

I just realised in my last post I ended each sentence with a '?'. :s
