Type of car: Full of electrical thingys and dood dad contraptions.
Problem: Excessive load on alternator. No easy alternator upgrade.
Would having two batteries of decent size take any meaningful load off the alternator?
Much the same way that huge audio systems employ capacitors to store short term charge.
Is this an option ?

What car, what alternator? Many older cars have got tiny alternators that have a sook at filsik sound systems, fans and extra lights, but most cars of legal voting age should be alright. (excluding Australian built cars...)
engine / alternator = ca18det
doesnt appear to be a simple alternator swap.
Unless you are trying to run thousands of watts worth of stereo, the stock alternator will be fine.
Go get it rebuilt.
