wiring does matter for some things... does the temp guage and oil pressure guage/light work correctly?
edit: see here for TSRM for a 7MGTE/7MGE - it should explain what various bits do and has plenty of trouble-shooting diagnosis things
I know i ask a million questions on here so i'm sorry, ive just got a million things on the go.
I'll tell the whole story
Pulled the head off my gfs 7mgte over the past few weeks, had it machined, put all the assorted 7mgte bullshit back on. Whilst removing components, 2 of the temp sender wires broke off (2 of the single wire senders) on the 4x BS temp senders on the thermostat housing. I made an assumption as to what broke off where by which way the wires lay and soldered them back on. hope i got them the right way around if it matters?
The rearmost sender on the block under the intake manifold also broke a small piece off when i unclipped it. I managed to shove the plug back on and if this one was oil pressure it still seems to work.
Other than that there are only about 2 vac lines i cant account for. one of them is from the charcoal canister , dont know where to plug that into, and the other is off that small gizmo that lives right next to where the loom passes through the firewall. It has an electrical connector off it that clips into the loom, WTF is this box and does it matter?
EDIT: Just remembered i pulled the ISCV and throttle apart, perhaps i didnt put the throttle position sensor in correctly??
Now the problem is that the car idles at say 1500 and then pulses up to 2000 before hitting some sort of cut. It does the same on the road and its exactly like a boost cut, except with no boost!!
The only known leak ( i will be checking everything though) that the inlet system has is the pipe just after the map, the small pipe nipple that is supposed to goto the power steering for idle up. this pipe has never been connected and the car ran okay before, so i'm dismissing this.
Please help guys, the car is booked in for roadworthy on monday, fkn pushy gf argh! lol
Cheers,
Troy

I'd be checking for error codes from the ECU first. That should give you an idea of what is wrong! The TSRM will explain how to do it.
The sensors under the intake manifold are knock sensors. The oil pressure sender is on the turbo side of the engine. If you damaged a knock sensor plug it (ECU) may be going into limp mode. Check the codes the ECU is throwing. I think 52 is knock sensor from memory
Edit - Here you go, this might help

Project megap00 - Gave up and sold up. Money tree died
Thanks guys...ive been studying the tsrm for hours upon hours for the past few nights, trying to work out where i went wrong. Im following the TSRM to set the TPS but i'm getting no continuity over the top 2 pins that i'm supposed to, the bottom 2 i am however.
Its also very hard to hold multimeter probes in the right spot, turn the TPS and screw it down with only 2 hands. Got my mate who works at toyota coming over tonight, he might shed some light as he'll know how to read the tsrm!
The oil pressure gauge works, but i didnt think to check the temp gauge when i started the car, i noticed it was exactly half way after not too long at idle though.
Also getting gurgling through the thermo housing after i shut the car off, probably done another bhg when i revved it up to dizzying heights over 2000rpm!
Someone please put me out of my misery before i burn this car.

WOOT!!~!!#@#$ Finally, some success with a toyota!@#!@
I hadnt installed the TPS properly. The little notches were on the wrong side so when the throttle was opened, the tps still read nothing.
There is a bit of smoke coming from around the turbo area even after an 8km run at 100km/h to my work. I'm hoping this is just sealant and rost off burning off.
Now to wait for the next BHG and they can commit me. I feel exactly the same as MA61Turbo's avatar!

The oil burning off was a result of not replacing the turbo oil pipe gasket...the only farking gasket that wasn't in the gasket kit. So another 2 days go by and it now has a new gasket (somehow my local toyota had 2 in stock) and a bit of loctite copper max silicon for good measure.
I bought a set of stud extractors for $45 for the oil line but they A: Dont work on the small amount of stud that was hanging out and B: Wreck the thread anyway!
