good news, the track wheels off the corolla fit the MR2 very nicely indeed with 205/40 rubber
I'm all set, I don't want to do anything to the suspension and steering yet as I want an 'as received' baseline, but the car has no rear swaybar (though the mounts are there), the steering rack is a bit stiff in places and there is a warn slightly lower ball joint on the left front.
The gearbox I've discovered doesn't like high RPM shifts into second, I guess it's the synchros (or it could be me), but you don't do a 1-2 change around Wakefield anyway so should be able to cope, though down-shifts will be interesting, and the pedal set up isn't as easy to heal-toe as the corolla either which could be interesting.
I definitely looking forward to this though and finding out just what the MR2 can do
i'm looking forward to seeing some pirouettes from you adjusting to the MR layout

If the guy last Friday in the Ferrari 355 didn't hold back and put his car into the grass twice on his first lap I don't see why you need to hold back either, he was obviously getting a feel for mid-mount madness tooOriginally Posted by Blue_Stivo
Oh and his best lap was a 1:18, I reckon you should be able to give that a good nudge in the MR2

You guys would have loved last Friday, nothing more fun that passing $300k+ cars and sitting on the arse of Porsches that seem to have a dislike for being passed by an old shitter
It'd be nice to get some pointers on how to go quicker/lap better next time, wasn't much point asking people who were driving cars capable of sub 1:10s and were only barely doing sub 1:20s.

What was your best time?
Project megap00 - Gave up and sold up. Money tree died
Mid to high 1:14's.
I could do them one after the other but couldn't go any quicker. It was 1 second quicker than last time I went but the best thing was it was much more consistent.
The car is getting easier to drive quickly since my last round of mods (bigger front brakes, minor suspension mods).
There will be no changes before June 1 apart from the tyres.

1.14 is pretty good. I'm afraid I have nothing to offer in way of tips, as my best is 3 seconds slower than that. Best i can do is 'don't take an MA61 with stock brakes, suspension and 7 year old tyres'
Write that down
Project megap00 - Gave up and sold up. Money tree died
hahaha noted, I have done a day there on 6 year old tyres before and it was an experience to say the least. My theory that they'd soften up with the heat didn't work out.
I think my lines around the track are fine but my cornering/braking leaves a lot to be desired.
