Default Is 100mm travel in my coilovers not enough??

    Hi all,

My new ISC coilovers arrived yesterday and the first thing i noticed is that there is only 100mm travel in the shock.. Considering this is going to be a street/track, one day be dedicated track car, is this too short? I would have thought they would need to be much longer...

They are S14 coilovers going into a RT142 corona and have 8km/mm springs might be going down to 6 or 7km/mm springs..

    Thanks,

    Chris.

100mm total, or 100mm from installed height to bump stop?

in the first case, you'll be all over the shop. in the second, I wouldn't be too concerned

100mm is way too short if you want to run a bumpstop (which you should)
120mm is minimum i would use in a street car, 60mm for bump (with a 25mm bumpstop) and 60mm for droop otherwise you will just skip all over the road if its bumpy.

Yeah its 100mm when at full hieght, no load.. Thought it was a bit of a worry.. What would be ideal? Not minimum? Say 200mm?

How much travel do your S14 coilovers have Linden

ISC is one of the cheaper brands like HSD only they only have 100mm travel in the shock and their S14 coilovers are shorter than my S13 coilovers when it should be the otherway around..

    Thanks,

    Chris.

100mm bump and 50 rebound would be about normal?

    100 total = 60mm bump, 40 rebound?

might be ok as long as you never hit a bump when cornering.. or braking....

Exactly what i thought.. It would be too dangerous let alone handle like shit... They are going back unless they can offer me a longer strut body with lots more travel..

    Thanks,

    Chris.

standard cars normaly have 200mm, konis and the like normally 180 or so. bilstiens can go down to 135mm depending on model.

other way round OC i prefer less bump more droop as it keeps the car in contact with the road better.

60mm of droop minimum for a decent setup.

any coilovers with less wont be good for road use.

Cheers mate.. I like the idea of having 180mm nice and safe.. Waiting to here back from the guy at ISC to see if they will take them back..

    Anyother thoughts would be great..

    Thanks,

    Chris..
