    Default 4agze oil leak on extractors

    G'day, I have a ae82 with 4agze. (Excuse the poor followong description), As you look at the engine front on there is a roundish component that bolts into head right above the exhaust port cyl No. 1( has electrical connecors so i'm guessing its a regulator or some thing ). Any way this is now leaking a small amount of oil onto the extractor..

    1. What is it?
    2. Can i pull it off and change the gasket in it?
    3. Do i need to get a new unit?

    Thanks
    Tyrone.

    That would be your Distributor leaking the oil. You can get a nice little repair kit from TwosRus to repair this.

    Cheers,

    make sure when you pull the distributor out, you have the engine set at top dead centre compression stroke, and take note of the position of the dissy gear when you pull it out.

    for the workbook information -
    http://www.toymods.org.au -> tech docs -> 4age book

    this gives you the information on how to correctly reinstall the dissy.
    ...... butt scratcher?!

    it may be a CAS (crank angle sensor) as opposed to a dizzy, but as far as oil leaks go they are the same thing.

    they have two seals to stop oil leaking out, one is an O-ring that goes around the shaft housing and seals against the hole in the head. this is easy to replace, just need to find the right O-ring.

    the other seal seals between the shaft and the housing, and is a bit harder to replace.

    Search the old toymods forums for "leaking dizzy" etc for more info, it has been covered a few times.
