    Default 3SGTE A/C Question

Hey guys i was woundering if anyone else has had trouble with the A/C With the 3SGTE. When i purchased the GT2 the AC wasnt working but i was already aware of this befor the purchase. I Know its not working because of lack of gas as i have checked this but i havent been able to check the condenser yet because i am not to sure where to look. If someone could point me in the right direction as well as give me a few pointers as to what else the problem could be cause by, it would be greatly appreciated. Anything to save me from forking out major doh for an expert to look at it

    Cheers

There's very little you can check without gas in it.
You will need to get it gassed before you can run any sort of tests on it. Most A/C places will leak test the system before actually filling it, and some won't charge if there's a leak that you need to fix. My A/C guy checks for free - not much use to you...

If there's no leaks, it will usually work (from a hydraulic perspective) even if the cores look like crap - I had a banana shaped one that didn't have any problems.

After it's gassed, you can start testing electrical parts (actually, that's a lie, you can override the pressure switches and see if the A/C amplifier will kick the compressor in, but it's usually not a good idea if it has no gas (and no oil) in it). For the location of the pressure switches you will need to work it out yourself, because it will depend on the swap - usually they'll remain on the host vehicle - follow the lines.
Because it's a conversion, you will need to work out what happened with the A/C wiring if it's not working. In such a situation, your time is usually better spent learning what you can while trying to work out the answer than paying a pro.

yeah figured it might be easier taking it to a pro, was worth a try at doing it my self though.

yeh they should do it for free mate, and diagnose it, cos they want your money to fix it
so find out what they say then fix it yourself

If you put your thumb over the intake for the compressor and turn it you should feel suction thre. For the condesor, yeah you kinda need something in there
