good luck man
I think the Ma conversion is a good idea but I aint gonna pay that much for discs/calipers. I got some EA rear discs and R31 rear calipers from the local wrecker for 50 bucks total and am going to see how I go. I've heard bad things about the h/brake operation but I have a hatred for internal drum h/brakes.
I've had a good search but can't find anything.
Will let you know how I go and will keep template for caliper mount in case anyone wants same.
good luck man
GA23(never finished-now with cracked block) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.
i spoke to someone who had EA brakes on their F series, wasnt a hard conversion but they handbrake is terrible.
why would you disslike drum handbrakes? they are superior in my mind.
The Falcon and R31 calipers are both terrible things. They love to jam up, provide a very average handbrake, and aren't really worth the effort adapting. Drum handbrakes are one of those things that, while they seem terrible, they seem to at least partly work.
has anyone actually rebuilt the r31 calipers before they installed them?? I have pulled apart my r31 calipers and sand blasted them. They had what looked like mud behind the piston which seized the handbrake mechanism hence they would have not worked! Im sure once I have put them back together they will do the job.
Isnt the handbrake used for parking? The internal drum is better but still not up to the task of 'drift' duties where you would install a hydraulic handbrake.

i have rebuilt falcon rear calipers and they are still far from acceptable for what i want. i dont drift my car but i want more from a handbrake.
falcon caliper with the integrual handbrake? same as r31 caliper?

Very similiar.Originally Posted by Pube
Yeah the falcon and R31 are very similar. I think it is just a lot simpler sticking (pun intended) with the h/brake in the caliper. I'll overhaul them and can't see them having a problem lasting many years. No dorifto for the lux...
haha in a 2jz hilux there will be plenty of dorifto whether you like it or not
Hehe yeah maybe but they won't be handbrake induced
The EA disc appears to be about 15mm bigger than the R31 disc. I think this will be within tolerances depending on how the caliper sits
interested to see how it goes. If it can hold you car on the line with no transbrake I would be VERY impressed![]()

allmtr, seriously the girlock calipers are shit regarding the handbrake, you need more cable travel to actuate them meaning your handbrake will come up higher and i still wouldnt trust them with a car on a steep slope, drum handbrake no worries.
i tell ya what, my MX83 handbrake is fucking awesome, maybe someone should try that
