Default MA70 Random engine check light

Have MA70 7MGE and random points in time the engine light comes on all gauges go dead and then all of a sudden back up again. Checking codes it shows that ignighter and coil issues but could this really cause that to happen.

    After a bit of advised

your coil could be shorting out meaning it is rooted so yes it could be causing these problems. IF its a 7mge i 'THINK' i have a coil here you can try.

No I ment BIG short like battry moving and touching the rad or rad support or bonnet.

Another thing to check would be fusable links. They bolt in on the battery terminal if they are loose this could happen.

It cant be coil because all guages would not go dead and the check engine light would not come up untill the engine stalled.

    Thanks for help guys,

I have tried two different coils now and still seems to be doing it. I pulled and cleaned the idle positioning valve as well as the TPS, the TPS was stuck on full throttle and i am not sure how long it had been like that. Have cleaned and put back in now my idle is all out but that easy fix.

Any ideas what else it could be with engine light coming on?

Well, i just found the problem, was all to do with a loose tps plug. Everything else i completed over the last 2 weeks was waste of time. Went to mechanic and he fixed it in 20 min.

    Thanks for your help guys
