i will be ringing them tomorrow morning, i just hope they have a fast turn around time as im going to need it asap.
Interesting to note that the mx83 and mx73 tail shaft rear half are exactly the same lengths. The mx83 has bigger uni joint in it and the bolt pattren where it bolts to the diff is different, they may simply be able to redrill the correct bolt pattern into the mx83 flange to bolt it back up to the diff.

Hardy Spicer did my 1-piece tailshaft in my AE86, good price, excellent quality, and the best part is they made it in a turn-around time of about 4 hours. The guys there know there stuff too.
Good luck with it.![]()

The hardest thing for most tailshaft blokes is to get the balance perfect , ie a shaft that doesnt vibrate . it seems hard in melb i find

whats the going rate for a driveshaft (one peice) from sds?
I paid $500ish for a 3inch shaft with 3.5inch brand new uni's. A Diff flange and gear box input was also included

Yep, I think mine was supposed to be $450 +GST
All brand new bits and they let me stay and watch (and photograph) them building it...
here is what goes into building a brand new Tailshaft (obviously they are a tad longer usually)
I ended up doing a story on the building of it in Performance Buildups Magazine...
well it would appear that you can get a 1jz auto to work with a mix of factory toyota tail shaft parts, all bolts together very nicely. i rang SDS today and was told he couldnt give me an idea of price and when i asked how long to do it, all i got was umm and maybes.
I have decided to get the car up and running and then when i have more time i will just tell them what i want and they can take as long as they like.
